The Star Hotel Sale, built in 1861, has a storied past. Originally a single-story building, it provided boutique accommodation and first-class spirits, wines, and ales. Known for its extensive stables, tethering, and well-watered paddock, the hotel offered a taxi service for customers arriving by train.

 

Architectural Evolution

In 1888/9,  Star Hotel became the two-story building we know today. An ornate verandah was added in 1924. However, as motor cars replaced horses, drivers frequently damaged the verandah posts, leading to their removal for safety reasons. The current bistro emerged in the 1970s and initially operated as the Starlight Room. During the 1970s and 1980s, it served as a popular venue for wedding receptions and community functions.

The Bistro has a children’s play area, family dining booths, and secluded booths for quiet dining. We offer separate areas for functions, both large and small. Guests can enjoy a game in our pool room or relax with friends in the front bar. Punters will find full TAB facilities, pokies, and a small bottle shop.
